Summary:

The Business Development Manager at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Sales team supporting efforts to foster strong relationships with customers, maximize revenue and profitability, and exceed our customers' expectations. This position will prioritize the establishment of new accounts, growth of existing accounts, and recovery of previous customers and will ensure that the highest quality customer service is provided throughout.  

Key Responsibilities:

1. New Business account development:
  • Generate new leads through personal interaction with customers both in person and over the phone. Provide excellent initial contact with the Pacific Seafood brand and products. Ensure consistent growth of sales through excellent customer service and follow through. Remain in contact with all potential new customers and ensure a clear and strong understanding of customer needs and desires.    
  • KPIs: Consistent monthly growth of sales/new accounts 
2. Growth of existing customer relationships:
  • Provide excellent customer service to existing customers, and work with them to understand changing needs to further the relationship and grow the sales. Consistently and successfully find ways to exceed customer expectations and ask for customer feedback on issues that can be corrected. Provide clear and regular communication with existing customers.  
  • KPIs: Sales growth of existing accounts month over month 

3. Recovery of Customer Accounts:

  • Work with sales team and leaders to target previous customers and work towards reestablishing a relationship. Provide consistent communication with former customers on new products and potential advantages of reestablishing business with Pacific. Work with former customers and leaders to establish the reason(s) for the loss of business and find creative and long-term solutions in order to regain the business of former customers.   
  • KPIs: Number of reactivated customer accounts 

4. Performance monitoring and Reporting:

  • Create, maintain, and execute a successful territory sales plan which will demonstrate previous and new customer target business, as well as current customers and methods for growth. Attend and actively participate in all sales meetings. Monitor sales volumes, distribution margins, and related measurements (plan vs. actual) and report variances with corrective actions to the sales manager and sales supervisor once per period. Ensure a positive margin is being maintained and work with leadership to correct when this is not the case.  

5. Operational Support 

  • Provide consistent and accurate communication with support team as well as leaders regarding distribution functions on a daily basis, to ensure customer orders are on time and accurate. Work with support team members to ensure customers remain within agreed upon credit terms. Ensure all documentation related to customer accounts is correctly routed and accurate.  

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position. 
 

What you Bring to Pacific Seafood:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum three years’ related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred:

  • Prior experience as a department manager in sales or purchasing within a food distribution or food service environment 
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should know about order processing systems, Word, and Excel 

Salary Range: DOE
