Summary: 

Our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Team is a vital group dedicated to ensuring all Pacific Seafood locations remain in compliance with Federal, State, and company regulations. We consistently do our best and always strive to be better so that we can mitigate risks and create a safe working environment for all team members.

As the Regional EHS Manager of our Alaska and Canada facilities, you will support Pacific Seafood’s Processing Operating Company by managing, implementing, and championing Pacific Seafood’s EHS Programs. Your role collaborates with EHS, location administration, and team members to promote a healthy and safe work environment by leading the safety improvements and injury prevention process to drive a reduction in EHS costs and risk exposure within the Processing Operating Company. You will be an integral team member and a part of the regional leadership team who will educate, assist, and provide guidance to integrate safety and environmental best practices and regulatory requirements into Pacific Seafood’s everyday business operations. You are adept at communication and collaboration and will work alongside the Support EHS team to ensure consistency and compliance with all necessary regulations among your assigned operating

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all times.
  • Continually improve, evaluate, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to protect team members and comply with company, local, State, and Federal regulations, especially as they relate to the operations within your operating group.
  • Ensure mandatory EHS trainings and certifications are kept up-to-date across your facilities. Identify opportunities to increase comprehension of training programs, as needed, and tailor the materials to the specific needs of the locations within your division to better equip team members with the tools and knowledge they need to work safely and in compliance with external and internal policies and regulations.
  • Serve as an intermediary for Support EHS team and the facilities within the region you oversee. Consistently increase your understanding of the operations and seek ways to tailor EHS programs and policies to increase their efficacy, retention, and practice. Provide feedback and recommendations to EHS Support personnel based on your operational and professional knowledge and provide support in continually improving EHS programs and policies, as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular visits at each location within your region as needed (but at a minimum of twice per year, as feasible; including at least one visit during peak season) to identify gaps and improvement opportunities, as well as providing recognition of excellent performance and practices. Be prepared to mobilize, if feasible, on short notice to respond to issues that may arise and provide support.
  • Supervise and train EHS personnel to properly administer required environmental permitting and compliance tasks at all assigned locations. Support the management across your region to hire and train EHS personnel.
  • Attend required biweekly and monthly EHS support meetings and host meetings for appropriate personnel within your region to ensure regular communication and remote support.
  • Remain up-to-date on all EHS trainings and participate in opportunities for professional development to stay current on emerging trends, research, and regulations applicable to EHS activities and subject matter affecting the company.
  • Actively engage and support the facilitation of all inspections/audits/surveys by regulatory agencies and customers. Attend all occupational health and safety and environmental inspections conducted by regulators within your region, in person, as much as possible, otherwise support remotely. Coordinate corrective action response and provide support to the location to ensure compliance post-inspection.
  • Ensure all documents, logs, permits, and required records are organized and maintained in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements. Regularly review record retention practices across your region to ensure locations are supported and audit-ready.
  • Maintain regular communication with HR and EHS teams regarding workers’ compensation claims management and safety issues. Collaborate with location HR/EHS Leads and workers’ compensation insurance adjusters to improve claims handling.
  • Use EHS software tools regularly to track and analyze injuries and incidents within your region. Develop action plans to address deficiencies and implement solutions as a partner with the management teams within your division and EHS Support team.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

What you Bring to Pacific Seafood:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health and Safety, Physical Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience facilitating safety and environmental duties and responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA compliance, EPA, and local, State, and Federal environmental rules and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, with proven ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills - able to communicate and establish effective working relationships with all departments. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to facilities within your region at least twice per year, plus more, as needed and feasible.
Preferred:
  • Prior experience working in seafood processing, manufacturing, or similar industry.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to become certified required.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member:
  • Must be able to occasionally walk, stand, bend, reach, and/or crawl.
  • Travelling. Traveling via car or plane to regional facilities.
  • Occasionally moves and transports documents and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across locations for various team members, departments and events.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and printer.
  • Frequently communicates with team members and stakeholders to convey detailed or important spoken instructions accurately, loudly, and/or quickly.
  • Must be able to perceive visuals to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen; extensive reading.
