Hatchery Technician I
Summary
As a Hatchery Technician 1, you will assist in the completion of all hatchery activities to ensure maximum quality and productivity. Having a strong work ethic, you will use your knowledge to complete routine duties, recommend improvements to current operation, assist in all departments, and collaborate with all operations to meet company, division, and location goals.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations
- Follow operational SOPs to ensure optimal husbandry conditions are achieved in all areas of the hatchery: Broodstock, spawning, algae, single seed, and setting.
- Assist supervisors in all aspects of hatchery operations.
- Perform feeding procedures.
- Measure and record basic water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, fluorometer readings, and salinity.
- Use a calculator to determine feeding and inoculation times.
- Use a scale and graduated beakers to prepare nutrients and additives.
- Observe all safety guidelines.
- All other duties as assigned.
Sanitation, upkeep, and maintenance
- Identify and communicate any discrepancies or maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Record activities on proper forms.
- Assist with maintenance as directed.
- Follow sanitation SOPs to ensure high levels of Bio-Security and cleanliness.
- Maintain supplies of cleaning materials such as bleach and scrub pads.
- Chlorinate and flush seawater and algae hoses.
What You Bring to Pacific Seafood
Required
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work Daytime, Evenings, Swing Shifts, Weekends and Holidays
- Experience in Shellfish or Finfish Hatchery operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience operating forklifts or other heavy equipment
Salary Range: $18.00 per hour
