Purchasing Manager

Summary:
The Purchasing manager is responsible for overseeing product purchasing and activity of the branch’s buying team. Lead the coordination and procurement of product in an efficient and cost-effective manner in alignment with the company strategy toward achieving operational excellence. Supports sales initiatives and collaborates with the sales team to support customer accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance of purchasing policies and develops new ones
- Manage all aspects of inventory, over all levels, turns, shrink
- Maintain and improve fill rates
- Forecast inventory needs as required
- Manage inventory control functions
- Schedule and coordinate product pick-ups
- Responsible for developing sales reports by buyer
- Manage costing and pricing in all areas, PO accuracy, spreads, freight variance
- Provides ongoing training for team members in AS400, sales cube, product & market knowledge
- Manage product rebate and shelter programs
- Maintain a positive image of the company in the market and community
- Strategize how to maximize company advantages and strong points to the marketplace
- Collaborate with other Purchasing Managers to gain/share knowledge regarding all aspects of buying.
- Monitor market conditions and communicate trends and changes with the sales team
- Analyze current sales, inventory positions, planned sales and promotions, and ad items to order all products.
- Actively searches for new vendors and products
- Perform a daily walk-through in cooler/freezer/deli to ensure product quality, shelf life, product rotation and inventory accuracy
- Coordinate sales training on our various programs
- Negotiate as necessary to reach the best possible price and service guarantee
- Attend daily inventory/sales meetings
- Responsible for budgeted P&L variance and purchasing labor/expenses
- Review, analyze and recommend purchase orders as necessary
- Perform other duties, as assigned
What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:
Required:
- Minimum five years’ related experience and/or training
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred:
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
- Advanced Mathematics Proficiency
Salary Range: $74,000 - $111,000 Annually
