Summary:
The Deck Hand at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our farm team supporting efforts to maintain and improve farm productivity. This position involves assisting with general farm operations including, the planting, maintenance and harvest of the company’s clam and oyster beds and is ideal for someone who is safety conscious, organized, and reliable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the condition of the dredge boat, ensuring it is left in operating condition for the following day.
- Work directly with the boat operator to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks on the boat such as engine room checks, cleaning, oil changes, and painting during haul outs.
- Operate various farm equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and farm boats.
- Demonstrate the ability to work safely and effectively in adverse conditions typically found on boats.
- Perform tasks on the shellfish beds as directed, including longline planting and oyster harvests.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of clam and oyster husbandry practices and understand bed maintenance requirements.
- Take small crews in a skiff out to the bed to perform assigned tasks.
- Complete paperwork logs and maintain records as required.
- Maintain farm safety at all times and comply with company health and safety guidelines.
- Provide backup support for other duties as needed and assist with farm organization and clean-up as directed.
What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:
Required:
- A minimum of six months of related experience in construction, manufacturing, farming, or related industry is required.
- Prior boat operator experience is required.
Preferred:
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Boat operator’s licenses are preferred.
Pay: $19.50 per hour
