Summary: 

The Hatchery Supervisor is responsible for all operations of the hatchery including feeding, harvesting, vaccinating, and inventorying. You shall assist the manager with managing Tech I/II team members in carrying out operational duties and take over responsibility for site operations while the manager is away. Maintain accurate site operation records. Direct reports to the Hatchery Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor all operations including feeding, environmental conditions, and fish behavior.
  • Possess a basic understanding of the physiological requirements of the shellfish as it relates to the environment, cultural conditions and feeding practices.
  • Oversee Hatchery Technician I/II employee(s) and/or fish hatchery workers and lead the team with any assigned projects or tasks.
  • Coordinate with manager in facility operations to maintain proper densities, predicting growth rates and ensuring the site is functioning at full capacity.
  • Knowledge of shellfish nutrition in order to apply satiation feeding techniques to maximize growth in the most economical way.
  • Learn and understand nutritional requirements of species in culture to monitor feeding response and feed quality.
  • Assist with identifying trout disease to eliminate product loss.
  • Take responsibility in management of site for the best use of resources and organization for maximum efficiency and profitability.
  • Use team support when needed in the completion of duties.
  • Learn and understand all operations of the site and be able to troubleshoot and problem solve quickly.
  • Follow and enforce health and safety guidelines to promote a safe work environment and ensure safety compliance with all local, state, and Federal safety and environmental laws.
  • Maintain company assets in good operational condition.
  • Work to continuously improve operations with respect to productivity, quality, safety, inventory levels and operating expense while utilizing effective aquaculture techniques.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Practice and always adhere to strict biosecurity protocols.
  • Respond to site alarms, as necessary, at any time, on any working day.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to multi-task.
  • Submit weekly reports of site operations and maintain accurate records.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends as assigned and depending on production, work hours may change with short notice.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Aquaculture or 3 or more years’ experience in finfish Aquaculture.

 Preferred:

  • 2 years’ experience in trout early rearing
  • Leadership experience
  • CDL or willing to get CDL

Salary Range: $25 to $30 per hour
