Summary:
A Machine Operator at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Production team supporting efforts to ensure quality packaged products within specification ranges, meeting production, and cost-to-produce standards. This position involves operating equipment, overseeing the production team, and improving production efficiencies and is ideal for someone who is a good communicator, meticulous, and thorough.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Operation and Efficiency:
- Operate equipment to optimum efficiencies to meet quality, cost, and operational requirements of daily schedules.
- Improve production efficiencies through training, equipment recommendations, and communication with supervisor.
- Knowledge of machine specifications, ranges, targets to meet quality standards.
2. Training and Quality Assurance:
- Train new team members, ensuring performance meets standards at line flow speeds.
- Follow processes to ensure the product and packaging meet quality standards and customer specifications.
- Monitor actual production against schedule; communicate/coordinate required volumes with production supervisor.
3. Communication and Oversight:
- Communicate with team members to ensure product quality, timely production, and accurate production reporting.
- Notify management of any production, safety, quality, or environmental concerns with equipment, operation, or facility.
- Oversee production team while reworking product that does not meet product specification.
4. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure sanitation of line and equipment as needed/directed.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures per OHSA regulations, including the Food Defense Plan and SOPs.
What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Minimum of three years related experience and/or training.
Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to watch and react to changing situations, to ensure safety.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to carefully complete tasks and skillful actions, making sure to pay close attention to details and accuracy.
- Ability to read a limited number of two and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.
- Capable of working and communicating in loud environments, while focusing on tasks.
- Capable of training in using specialized tools and equipment pertinent to operations.
- Capable of solving simple math equations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Pay Range: $20 per hour
